In advance of the expected artic cold front moving into Texas this Sunday, ERCOT has issued a weather watch for Sunday, January 14th – Wednesday, January 17th due to the extreme cold weather, higher electric demand and potential for lower reserves.

Based on discussions with our energy consultants and suppliers, BEC Power urges its members to conserve energy, to the extent possible, during this upcoming event.   Please look for ways to conserve energy during this period.

Your energy rate is fixed. However, as ERCOT has been purchasing ancillary services for the market to ensure there is enough energy, we have seen significant increases in the cost of these services during periods like this. Conservation on everyone’s part will help keep some of these costs out of the market.
